Interactive Table Help

Many of the tables on DOW CIVILIAN COOL have interactive features, such as filtering and sorting. Following are some usage tips. Note that the table contents are explained in the Table Legend, accessible on the left above the table.

Sorting

You can sort the tables by one or more columns.

• Click on a column title to cycle through the sorting order for the column (ascending, descending). The sort order is indicated by a small arrow next to the title. The actively sorted columns have a dark arrow indicating the sort direction.
• Shift-click more than one column title to sort on more than one column at a time.

Filtering

You can narrow down what a table displays by using the filter list displayed to the left of the table. (Not all tables have filtering.) Note that credential tables display with the Most and Some filters active by default.

• To add a filter, click on a filter's checkbox. Active filters are listed above the table.
• To remove a filter, click a listed filter above the table, or uncheck its checkbox.
• To filter by Agency Name on credential tables, select the agency from the drop-down list by clicking its checkbox. You can filter for multiple agency names at once.

Searching

You can search a table for a word or words using the search box shown above and to the right of the table. (Not all tables have searching).

• Type your search word or words in the search box. The table is filtered by your input in real time. The active search is added to the Active Filters list above the table.
• To clear the search, delete your search terms from the search box, or click on the filter in the Active Filters list.

Military and civil service occupations are linked to related civilian credentials based on a comparison of military and civil service job duties with the content area of a civilian credential. Credentials may be related to most or some of the major duties of a military or civil service occupation. This data may be used, for example, by a stakeholder such as an employer to identify military or civil service occupations that may train or employ personnel related to a specific certification or type of certification. The search functions below offer multiple options for identifying military or civil service occupations by searching on civilian credentials.

Search for a civilian credential by entering a keyword search such as “network” or “aviation” and clicking on the Search button. The keyword search may be refined by narrowing the results using the dropdowns for one of four options: 1) credential agency, or 2) industry, or 3) job family, or 4) occupation. Or, refine a search by selecting criteria such as credential type or accreditation, or by narrowing the results to a specific branch of the military or a known military occupational code or personnel category using the provided dropdowns. A broader search may also be performed without a keyword search using a Agency, Industry, Job Family or Occupation selection alone or in combination with military consideration options.

Results will be displayed in a grid showing key details including the credential title and agency, in demand status, GI Bill availability, and any accreditations. The far right column titled “Details” provides links to a Service or DOW CIVILIAN COOL website for additional details on the credential and the related military or civil service occupations.
